FPA Board Minutes - August 17, 2005
The board meets once a month at different locations and times. Please check the calendar to see the dates or contact Board Chair
for more information.
Attending:
Mickey Fernandez, Joan Riback, Anne Greenblatt, Richard Naegle
1) Approval of minutes from last Board meeting — moved, seconded, unanimously approved.
2) Report on Town Social/FPA Chamber of Commerce Mixer scheduled for Wednesday, August 24, 5:30-7:30.
- Downtown Planning Committee report and plans;
- Communications Committee report and plans;
- Musical group still being looked for;
- Youth Park invited to have display table;
- Downtown Planning Committee to meet at 4:30 on 8/24 to set up;
- Board members invited to help out
3) Suggestion by Khysie Horn and Vesta Copestakes re: combining Holiday Tree lighting on 11/27 with downtown open house.
- interesting idea — deferred to next Board meeting for further discussion.
4) Green Valley Creek Project
- Progress report from GVCP Committee; pipeline purchased to feed water to irrigation system for newly planted trees; wonderful work clearing weeds from new trees by volunteers on Sunday mornings;
- Financial report--$20,000 of $30,000 NOAA grant to be received soon; $5700 expended for pipeline; Dean Martinelli will contribute his time and machinery to put in the pipeline
5) Article for next Gazette — hopefully Vesta will do photos and an article on the Town Social; brief FPA article needed to announce Oct Town Meeting and agenda (Richard will write this)
- For current Gazette, articles on Town Social by Mary Luttrell and on The Green Valley Creek Project by Joan Riback.
6) Next Town Meeting — tentative date Oct 8, Saturday 10-12:30; original idea of an evening meeting no longer needed since Town Social is in the evening.
- Proposed title: “Realizing the Vision — Update”
Proposed topics:
- Town Square;
- Neighborhood development; Greg Carr (County Planning Department) to be invited to speak;
- Burbank Housing update;
- Idea of Community Center
