for more information.
Attending:
Anne Greenblatt, Elaine Neiswender, Joan Riback, David Carpenter,
Birgit Carstenson, Richard Naegle.
1) Minutes from last Board meeting unanimously approved.
2) Green Valley Creek Project
- Report from Joan: Funding is beginning to be committed to the Project; $5000 just received from City of Santa Rosa + $30,000 approved by Fish America; more to come;
- GVCP Committee meets Saturday July 9 at the Thomas Creek Ranch Community Center (4 - 6:30) to discuss Project: history of the creek, the status of the first stage of restoration, plans for the next phase, who is helping, and who wants to help at; Cam Parry and Dean Martinelli - our Environmental Heroes, recognized by NOAA for their work on the creek - will be joining us as well as well as other participants in the Project (such as a teacher from El Molino High School and a representative from the Conservation Corps); All interested people are encouraged to attend. For directions to Thomas Creek Ranch, email Sig.Anderman@EllieMae.com.
3) Board agreed to host the Chamber of Commerce Mixer in August (Board resolution)
- **Richard to coordinate with Vesta; hopefully to happen on Wednesday, July 24, 5:30-7:00.
- It will be held in the site of the Town Square; **Downtown Planning Committee will discuss setting up displays possibly laying out proposed aspects of the Square;
- **Richard to invite “Your Name in Lights,” winner of El Molino High’s Battle of the Bands, to entertain.
4) Forestville Lighting and Landscape District report from Birgit;
- Unsatisfying dialogue with County staff; little information on how much money is available, how spent, and who makes the decisions;
- **Joan and Richard to pursue; first a discussion with County Supervisor, Mike Reilly; then perhaps followup interview with County staff to obtain facts and then publish them in the Gazette for public review;
5) Update from Elaine on Joyful Living Center;
- JLC Board has decided not to pursue a public community center at this time; it would require hardtocomeby public funding; JLC will continue attracting and coordinating private businesses;
- FPA encourages the JLC as it encourages other endeavors in Forestville that seem in the public interest; FPA’s role is community education rather than endorsement;
6) Communications
- article in June Gazette by Lucy;
- **Richard to write article for July Gazette;
7) Next Town Meeting tentative date: Sept or Oct;
an evening meeting rather than Saturday a.m.; possible potluck dinner before (Anne G. offered to coordinate);
- Proposed title: “Realizing the Vision Update”
Proposed topics:
- Town Square;
- Neighborhood development; Greg Carr (County Planning Department) to be invited to speak;
- Burbank Housing update;
- idea of Community Center;
Note: **Items mean actions to be taken with reports back to the Board.
