FPA Board Minutes - May 26, 2009

The board meets usually once a month at different locations and times.
Contact Board Chair for more information.

Attending
Board Members Present: Richard and Elizabeth Naegle, Lucy Barnett, Max Broome, Anne Greenblatt

1) Lucy, Chair of the Forestville Community Fund Advisory Committee, resented the recommendations which the Committee found met the Fund guidelines for the 2009 funding cycle. It was moved, seconded, and approved that the recommendations of the Committee be adopted.
  • $2000 for a mural project for downtown, with a design review by a joint meeting of the FCF Committee and the Boards of the Chamber of Commerce and the FPA before implementation
  • $3,250 for the Fire Station demonstration garden
  • $1,200 for The Landing for a computer workstation for the after-school program located at the Methodist Church
  • $1,000 for the Victory Garden project in which several gardens are being planted to help feed those in need in the area
  • $500 for The Downtown Cleanup Project. This downtown trash pick up project was fully funded last year. This year $500 in matching funds will be given if an additional $500 can raised from downtown merchants and/or the Chamber of Commerce.
2) The Board also voted to provide matching funds for an additional project:
  • It was moved, seconded, and approved that $500 in matching funds be granted for continuation of the Green Valley Creek Project; the FCF Committee did not recommend this grant because it did not meet the “downtown Forestville” criterion; however, since the funds for the Community Fund come largely from Blue Rock Quarry (the BoDean Company) to mitigate its impact on the area, and since the degradation of Green Valley Creek has been due in large part to the effect of quarrying adjacent to it, the Board decided to add this matching fund to the FCF Committee’s recommendations.
