Alert – Quarry Expansion Draft Environmental Impact Report
FPA alerts are to keep you informed of opportunities for input into the future of Forestville.

PLEASE ACT NOW!
Educate yourself by attending the Town Meeting on the Quarry Expansion, Oct. 2, 2005
“The increases in truck traffic causing increases in noise, air pollution, safety hazards, and other impacts may substantially alter the character of the community.”

— From page 45, Summary Chapter, Blue Rock Quarry Expansion Draft Environmental Impact Report (note: italics added)

Now is the time to educate yourself on these issues and make your voice heard; soon it will be too late!

Written comments on the Blue Rock EIR must be submitted by October 20.

Regarding Canyon Rock, the Sonoma County Planning Commission will consider the Final EIR and conduct a public hearing on the merits of the project:
October 6, 2005 – 1:05PM, 2550 Ventura Avenue, Santa Rosa.

Subsequently, on an as yet unspecified date, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will consider the Final Canyon Rock EIR and conduct a public hearing on the merits of the project.

Prior to the October 20 deadline and before these two hearings, written comments on each of the projects may be submitted to:
Mike Sotak, Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management Department
2550 Ventura Avenue, S.R. 95403-2829

CD copies as well as hard copies of both the Canyon Rock Final EIR and the Blue Rock Draft EIR can be borrowed from the Package Store in downtown Forestville.

They can also be found at the Guerneville and Sebastopol libraries. Or you can find them online at: www.Sonoma-county.org/prmd. (Click Publications, and then Environmental Impact Reports)

For further information see the current (9/15) issue of the West County Gazette. There are articles on the quarries on page 1 and page 25.

The Town Meeting will have short presentations from a panel that will include representatives of the two quarries as well as experts on environmental, pollution, and traffic issues. The bulk of the Meeting will be for citizens to ask questions of the panel and receive answers, as well as a time for individual statements of position.
