Alerts — Forestville’s Last Chance: Quarry Meeting

Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 — 4-6, at Oddfellows Hall, Forestville
Information update & action planning
What are we going to do?!
The FPA will host a Town Meeting on Sunday, September 10, 4-6, at the Oddfellows Hall (corner of Covey and 116). Tripling of production at the Blue Rock Quarry is about to be approved by the Board of Supervisors without any guarantee that the safety mitigations identified in the Environmental Impact Report will soon, if ever, be implemented. Moreover, there are concerns whether or not the Bodean Company, owner of Blue Rock, needs to expand in Forestville to meet County needs for aggregate. Please see the Issues and Updates section of this website for full details of these concerns.

The Town Meeting will be chaired by Mary Luttrell, a regular contributor to the Gazette. There will be a brief information update, and then an open forum for planning concrete actions. Bring your ideas and your willingness to take action.

One very helpful action right now is to write to the individual members of the Board of Supervisors. Mike Reilly is on our side, but the others seem to be largely focused on development. Please let each know your opinion, particularly about the need for the Bypass and other mitigations to be built before any expansion of production is allowed.

The crisis is now. The time to act is now. In a few weeks, it will be too late. Write:
