The Forestville Community Fund is a designated fund for Downtown Improvement.
Money for this fund was established through a Good Neighbor Agreement between Bo Dean Forestville Quarry, the Forestville Planning Association and Forestville Citizens for Sensible Growth. The Bo Dean Quarry contributes to this fund based on ton of product sold. In addition, other public funds and private donations may also go into the Fund. The Forestville Planning Association, trustee of the Fund, is a 501c3 tax-deductible non-profit corporation.
The downtown geographic perimeters are along Highway 116 from Forestville School to Mirabel Road, down Mirabel to include the Forestville Youth Park and down Covey Road to include El Molino High School.
Grants made from the fund are to encourage new programs, projects, activities or special needs rather than for general operating expenses.
The fund is managed by the FPA and will be distributed back to the community through a grant application process taking place once a year.
To assist the FPA in the grant distribution process, a Forestville Community Fund Committee was established to create an application form, evaluate proposals and make recommendations to the FPA Board on which projects to fund. Members of this committee were selected to represent a range of community interests such as the schools, seniors, the FPA, the Chamber of Commerce, the Youth Park and interested citizens.
In establishing criteria for the funds, committee members wish to encourage collaboration, communication and good will within the Forestville community to improve the quality of life of its citizens. The criteria are listed on the application form.
The committee may give priority to those projects that:
a. Will impact the most people.
b. Can “match” dollars from other sources.
c. Involve collaboration with other groups or projects.
d. Has a volunteer component to the project.
In 2008, $10,500 will be distributed. Grant requests may be submitted on the Forestville Community Fund Grant Application Form, which can be picked up at a) the Package Store b) the El Molino Store (formerly the pharmacy) or c) at Bank of the West, all in downtown Forestville. To be considered, the Grant Application must be completely filled out and postmarked no later than May 30, 2008 to the Forestville Planning Association, P.O. Box 184, Forestville, CA 95436. Final determination of which grants will be funded will be announced in June.
