It’s going to happen!
A roundabout at the intersection of Highway 116 and Mirabel Road will be constructed in two to three years. The roundabout will be about 50 feet in diameter (see computer-generated rendering at right). Public Works wants to know what our community would like to place in the center portion of the roundabout.
What I would like to see in our new roundabout?
Would you like to see something “low-key” like native groundcover, shrubs and a few trees? Perhaps you would like to see an object(s) or sculpture in the roundabout that speaks to our town identity? Suggest names of plants, materials or other objects you would like to see in the below box.
All ideas are welcome. To help us along CalTrans has provided us with a guidelines document with a number of photos of roundabouts from different parts of the country. You can download this pdf format document: CalTrans Roundabout Guidelines.
Public Works would like a design from us by mid-summer We have formed a Roundabout Design Committee to help our community deliver a design to Public Works by mid-summer.

The County plans to build a roundabout at the intersection of Mirabel and 116 in the next 2 or 3 years. Its middle will be an open circle with a 50+ foot diameter.
Read about roundabouts and see photos of other ones in use.
Report on meeting on 2/26 at the Forestville Elementary School called by the County Transportation Department to review the idea and design of the roundabout proposed for the intersection of Mirabel and 116.
