Members Present
Joan Riback, David Carpenter, Mickey Fernandez, Sig Anderman, Anne Greenblatt, Elizabeth Naegle, Richard Naegle

  1. Agenda approved. Minutes from previous meeting amended.

  2. Communications Committee
Sig will send an email list of media contacts to Elizabeth Naegle as Chair of Communications.

  3. Planning Committee
Joan attended the meeting on the General Plan in June. The bypass is in the General Plan, with traffic calming plans for the center of town proposed.

Joan reported that a coalition of unincorporated Sonoma County towns and organizations are creating a Bill of Rights for the Russian River, proposing that it be wildlife friendly, swimmable, boatable, etc. She is having a seminar on the river at her home on Aug. 1.

Joan also encouraged everyone to attend the meeting of the State Water Resources Control Board in Sacramento on July 22 to vote on the proposed lower flow of the river next summer.

Sig will call Jim (owner of proposed storage sheds) about possibilities for designing the shed in alignment with FPA proposed design guidelines.

Richard will call Philip Sayles to discuss possibilities for developing Solak Park into a park, now that it has been proposed that the trailhead for the bikepath will be the new town square.

  4. Downtown Planning Committee
David reported that Wayne Gibbs presented a video on how to design public spaces at their last meeting. They are working on a design for the porposed town square, with managed parking. The Oct. 9 Town Meeting will feature community input on ideas for the town square. A design concept is need in the fall for permitting by next spring. The square could possibly be a community service district or owned by the county as a park. Sig will research this.

Respectfully submitted by Anne Greenblatt, Secretary on 8/16/2004.
