FPA Board Minutes - October 9, 2004
The board meets once a month at different locations and times. Please contact Board President or more information.

Members Present
Elizabeth Naegle, Richard Naegle, Joan Riback, Mickey Fernandez and Birgit Carstensen

  1. First discussion about Steve Fogle’s death - we had a moment of silence.

  2. General Discussion
    Town Meeting - Nov. 13th at 10:00 AM at the Odd Fellow's Hall — Joan has article in Gazette announcing meeting. 

    Initial discussions on ideas for the meeting:

    • Update people on current issues
    • Look at Town Square & process
    • Elaine Neiswender. Wants _ hr to talk about her 501(c) 3 Joyful Living Center
    • Communications Committee status

    Downtown Planning Meeting met earlier today — Joan reported on the meeting. David Carpenter is considering leaving his position as Chair of the Downtown Planning Committee. 

    Joan Riback raised the question on procedure for a possible Acting President if she leaves the FPA Board. These questions will be discussed at the annual review meeting.

  3. Governance Committee
    Richard reported IRS & 501(C) 3 status. Permanent status is imminent.

  4. Communications Committee 
    Elizabeth leaving her position as Chair — certain chores are in place already — do we need a new Chair? Discussion ensued - one more Communications Committee meeting will take place on Oct. 23, and Elizabeth will do follow up calls. We will announce at the Town Hall Meeting that we need more people. 

    We discussed the town meeting and came up with following agenda:

    10-10:05-Introduction - Welcome Issues/Update - Joan 
    10:05-10:15 - Issue update - Mike Reilly 
    10:15-10:20 - Presentation on Forestville Youth Park 
    10:20-10:25 Forestville Wildlife Habitat Project - Elaine Neiswender 
    10:25-11:00 - Laura Hall - presentation on town square planning 
    11:00-11:15 - Orin Thiesson's presentation on progress of Forestville Town Square plans 
    11:15-11:30 Questions & Answers 
    11:30 -12:30 – 
    • Community input (facilitated by Joan) 
    • We will break up into small groups to discuss issues.
    • Each of us to be in a small group to help facilitate (not necessarily be spokesperson) 
    • Each group to report back at end of session.

  5. Proposed Contest 
    Town Square — Joan will do a drawing of the space. Top 3 winners from Elementary school and top 3 winners from high school. We will look for imagination, creativity, colorful, original, and descriptive. Mickey will contact businesses to donate gift certificates and elementary school to clear through their administration. Will schools be willing to distribute & collect? Joan will contact high school. Make a deadline for Dec. 10th so it can be completed before Christmas? 

    Richard will go to next Forestville Chamber Meeting and ask them for their input re ideas about the Town Square.
