Minutes of last meeting on 8/5/07 approved (as sent out by email).
Town Social/Forestville Business Expo a great success! Thanks to all who helped — from the FPA and the Chamber! People loved The Mighty Chiplings and Phenix. Thanks to Ramona Crinella for providing her wonderful wine.
- Financial report: $350 for music + less than $25 incidental expenses for wine cups & ice; unanimous approval to pay incidental expenses:
- Evaluation by Chamber (RN attended meeting); income roughly equaled expenses of about $1100; biggest cost was portapotties, for about $450; event generated new memberships and interest in Chamber; Chamber wants to do it again next year with the FPA; suggestions include picnic tables, no generators or removed to side of event (due to noise), large band not needed, stage not needed; suggested that Chiplings play again + another small group.
Unanimous approval to renew FPA’s $75 annual membership in the Forestville Chamber of Commerce;
- Unanimous approval to maintain reciprocal web link with Chamber.
Forestville Community Fund
- Lucy Barnett Hardcastle is chairperson of the Formation Committee; no report at this point; she is gathering people to participate on the Committee (including Val Habegger and Birgit Carstenson from FPA Board);
- Unanimous approval of request from Peter R/Downtown Planning Committee that up to $1000 be granted for Laura Hall to review the plans for the proposed Town Square; the Board would like to meet with the Downtown Planning Committee when Laura gives her report; perhaps invite Chamber Board to also attend;
- BoDean accounting for Fiscal Year 2007? Through the Good Neighbor Agreement, the BoDean Company (owner of Blue Rock Quarry) will make a yearly contribution to the FPA based on the Quarry’s annual production; BoDean will send a $6000 pre-payment each July 1 to be followed by a second check after January 1 with the balance; actual yearly amount will depend on the Quarry’s production that year.
Green Valley Creek Project
- Three members of our Board walked the Project with Larry Hanson, Project Coordinator, on 8/26; an impressive and wonderful project that is nearing completion;
- How to deal with left-over materials from Project? Larry is exploring donating them to another non-profit environmental project; Richard will ask Fish America if we sell the materials, do they want the money returned?
Unanimously approved to hold next Town Meeting on 10/28, 4-6, at The Oddfellows Hall;
- “State of the Town” meeting: update on roundabout proposal (Allan Tilton), Larry Hanson to give final report on Green Valley Creek Project, introduction of Forestville Community Fund, Orrin Thiessen on his latest design for his proposed development, and possible update on Town Square design by Laura Hall or Downtown Planning Committee;
- When schedule? Sunday Oct 28?
Revised FPA Bylaws — review of Max’s proposal (emailed to all Board members);
- Agreed that Article 4, Section 2 should read: “Everyone who lives or works in the 95436 area code is an advisory member of the Corporation.”
- Agreed that the address of the Corporation’s “principal office” will be listed as the Board President’s home address;
- Next meeting we will finalize and approve the Bylaws.
